Davis Langdon History

The origins of Davis Langdon lie back in 1860 when Benjamin Thomas Patterson commenced practice as a surveyor. Patterson, as sole proprietor, started a company that was to grow over the following 150 years and develop into Ireland’s leading quantity surveying practice.

In 1992, Patterson Kempster & Shortall became the Irish Associate Practice of Davis Langdon & Seah International – formalising an informal relationship that had existed for many years.

As Davis Langdon & Seah International developed worldwide, so their relationship with Patterson Kempster & Shortall strengthened and deepened. The exchange of data and skills such as Value Engineering proved invaluable to Patterson Kempster & Shortall and their clients.

During 2001 the strategic alliance with Davis Langdon & Seah International developed considerably with joint appointments for a number of major projects and in 2002 the firm adopted the name of Davis Langdon PKS. In September 2009 Davis Langdon PKS formally became part of Davis Langdon LLP.

In recent years, Davis Langdon  has been in the forefront of developments in the project management and quantity surveying professions and the Irish construction industry. The ‘Davis Langdon Review of the Irish Construction Industry’ which has been published annually for the last 30 years has become one of the most respected commentaries on the Irish construction industry.
